  • Can I eat them?
Please don't eat, lick or taste. Technically they are edible, as it is non toxic. Satin Ice Gum Paste is used. However, all Sugar Art and Flowers that we sell are considered not edible and for decorative purposes only. They have wire, floral tape and are not handled for food preparation. Please remember to keep away from pets and children. Sorry we cannot be responsible or be liable for for damage or loss suffered by any person, pet, tooth, or property. Basically anything. IF you ever want to use them for a cake topper, just insert a straw over your stem prior to inserting them into your cake to protect your cake. The same goes for small sugar arrangements for the side of a cake- insert a straw over stem prior to insertion into cake.
  • I need an arrangement right away, how long does it take?
Each piece is made by hand it takes a little while to make. Depending on the type of sugar flower, the number you'd like and even the drying time can make your order take a little longer. Plus the shipping time. Please order as soon as possible and allow at least a couple weeks for the creation and some time for delivery. Orders are based on a first-order-comes-first kind of thing, and feel free to reach out at sugarartcanada@hotmail.com with any questions.

  • I bought an arrangement for my cake, and I want to keep them. How do I go from a cake topper to flower arrangement in a vase?
When you purchase a sugar arrangement a large straw will be given to insert over the stem. This should be done prior to inserting into the top or side (if side arrangement). Please don't miss this step, as this will protect your cake from touching the wire and floral tape. When you are ready to take your sugar arrangement out, carefully take it out of the cake and remove the straw. Carefully put your arrangement in a vase. Add small stones (they work well in a vase) to keep your arrangement from moving. To add your arrangement in a vase with small stones: Take out a few of the top stones, carefully grasp your arrangement tightly and insert in the vase. With your other hand shake the vase slowly while you push your stem down into the stones. The slight shaking will help insert your arrangement inside the vase. Once in deep enough add the few stones you have taken out.

  • Care for your Sugar Flower Arrangements
Sugar Flowers will last a very long time. They may however fade over time or get dusty. I have seen some that are 8 years old. To bring back some colour, you can very carefully put them through some steam. Doing this about a second at a time may help bring back the original colour (s). With a steamer or steam from a kettle, hold your arrangement by the stem (s) and wave it in the steam. Be careful not to burn yourself, keep your hand out of the steam. Do this a second at a time about 2 or 3 times. Remember this is gum paste and will melt with continuous steam. To dust them, you can carefully blow dry them with a hair dryer. Be careful of the heat, over a short time the heat can melt your flowers. Keeping in a curio cabinet is great. And please remember to keep away from pets, and children. They do smell sweet, but are not recommended for eating. They contain wires, floral tape and are for decoration only. Satin Ice gum paste is used
  • Can I match my Wedding colours with your Sugar flowers
Yes, if there is a specific colour just let us know and we will do our best to match. Pease keep in mind that colours look different over email then the real ones. An option is to meet up or mail us a small swatch of your material colour, we can then do our best to match. Please reach out with any questions, sugarartcanada@hotmail.com We also offer highlights in gold or silver as another option.
  • OOPS ...... a petal broke off.
This happens, no worries. The magic of super glue can solve this. With these being for decorative purposes only and not edible, just use a superglue to fix. Carefully add some glue to the edge of the piece (or edge of pieces) being attached and join together. Be careful not to get glue on your hands, gloves may help. With a neat glue, both pieces should join nicely, and be somewhat undetectable or not noticeable at all. Hopefully this helps and you can enjoy your sugar art for a long time!
  • Can you make me Pure Black flowers?
Yes, this is possible. However, because of the amount of colouring that is used to get a dark black, dark purple, or a very dark red colouring the Sugar Flowers are less rigid. They are not as resilient to age, and may droop a bit over time. I can paint the darker colour over the flowers, but it is not as realistic looking. See the examples below of an orchid and rose in dark black with gold highlights. These have a bit of a higher cost, due to additional time and material to make. Happy to do, If you love it!!
